The Pathfinder 25 Challenge Hike is a 25 mile competition hike open to anyone (under 16's must be accompanied by an adult) that usually takes place on the second Saturday of October every year.  For 2009 this means the event will be on Saturday 10th October 2009.

The route: The hike follows a circular route around the North Yorkshire Moors. The start is at 09:00am from Ravengill scout campsite in Commondale, and the object is to complete the course in under 10 hours. Ravengill is used as the hike HQ for the weekend and is where registration and kit check takes place. The route has changed little over the years, although in 2003 a new 15 mile route was added. The routes are detailed here.

Safety: Suitable footwear must be worn, waterproofs and a specified amount (or more) of safety equipment must be carried, which is fully detailed in the rules. Rescue/sweep teams provide backup and transport is provided from roadside checkpoint points back to Ravengill for competitors who are unable to complete the route.

What is provided: Drinks are provided for competitors at roadside checkpoints and at Ravengill. Ravengill also provides a hot meal for competitors from about 12 midday, and showers are available. Everyone who starts the hike receives a badge and a certificate of their achievement showing the distance completed and time taken.

Trophies: 8 individual trophies are awarded.

Results: A list of finishers and winners will be available, an SAE will be required for a paper copy, the list will also be published on this website as soon as practicable after the event ends.

The hike is organised by 25th Middlesbrough (Ormesby Pathfinders) Scout Group.
